"Where the Mountain Meets the Moon" by Grace Lin tells the story of Minli, a young girl living in a poor Chinese village who embarks on a quest to find the Old Man of the Moon to ask him how to improve her family's fortune. Along the way, she meets a flightless dragon, a talking goldfish, and other characters who help her on her journey and teach her about happiness and true wealth. The story is interwoven with Chinese folklore and includes tales of the Jade Dragon and other mythical figures.
